Brooms Head is one of those unique beachfront villages that are becoming rare. Originally known as Cakora Point, the name Brooms Head was first used in 1870 when a broom thought to have come from the wreck of the schooner 'Eureka', was washed up on the beach. These days many locals affectionately refer to "The Broom" as their favourite holiday destination.

Pilot Hill, Yamba
Whale watching is an exhilarating experience and Pilot Hill is a great location to spot migrating whales.
Mathew Flinders discovered Yamba in 1799 and the view over the ocean, beaches and river system is stunning. There has been a continuous pilot station in situ here since 1877 and is the site of the first lighthouse built in 1880 until its current replacement was erected in 1955. Whilst looking for whales and dolphins read the dreamtime stories of how the Clarence was created on the interpretive panels at this historic site.

Sitting atop Yamba’s highest hill, the Yamba lighthouse is one of the town’s main attractions and a must see for any visitor. The original lighthouse was built in 1880 and later replaced by the current lighthouse in 1955. A hotel – the Pacific Hotel – that obscured the original lighthouse was built in 1934. This and a water reservoir to be built at the location necessitated the relocation of the original lighthouse to its current location. After the new lighthouse had been completed in 1955, the old one was demolished the following year.
